Volunteer Coaches

Volunteer Coaches If you enjoy sports and working with young people and have a few hours a week to sport, why not become a volunteer sports coach for one of the Glenview Park District’s Youth Sports Leagues? The Park District depends heavily on volunteers to help run us our programs and keep costs down. Coaching clinics are offered to give you pointers on how to provide instruction during practice and support during a game.

In September 2008, the Glenview Park District Board of Commissioners approved a background check policy on volunteers based on Illinois law which is intended to safeguard the children in our programs as well as the district's assets. This policy requires all prospective employees as well as selected volunteers and contract service providers to submit to a criminal background check.

As a prospective volunteer, you must complete and return the release form that grants the district permission to conduct a background check. Your assignment will be conditional upon an acceptable background check report from the Illinois Department of State Police and/or other law enforcement agencies.

All coaches and co-coaches must complete the background check form and return it to Jill Bruns. The form may be faxed to 224-521-2561 or mailed to 2400 Chestnut Ave., Glenview, IL 60026. Once the forms are received, they will be passed on to the Glenview Park District Human Resources department for processing. If you are coaching multiple teams you only need to fill out one background check form.

To volunteer, click on the sport you are interested in below and fill out a volunteer coaching form. For more information on volunteer coaching, contact Jill Bruns at 224-521-2560.
