Anyone living within the geographic boundaries of the Glenview Park District or who has a signed purchase contract for a home or a signed lease showing that they will be residing in the park district when the program begins is considered a resident. A computerized Lottery is used to fill class lists and waiting lists at the beginning of each season. You must register by the Lottery registration deadline for that season in order to be included in this Lottery. Lottery registration (online or paper) for Summer programs must be received at Park Center, 2400 Chestnut Ave., Suite P, by Thursday, May 15 at 7:30 pm.
As the majority of registrations are received shortly before the Lottery deadline, the processing of registrations may take several days beyond the Lottery deadline. Once all Lottery registrations have been processed, the computer then runs an electronic random draw. Enrollment confirmations are then mailed or e-mailed to all households participating in the Lottery.
Open Registration begins approximately two weeks after the lottery deadline. Both walk-in registration at Park Center, 2400 Chestnut, and online registration begin at 9 am. Registration received after the lottery deadline but before the beginning of Open Registration will be held and processed after walk-in customers have been served on the first day of Open Registration. Open Registration for Summer Programs begins on Wed., May 28 at 9 am. Numbers will be distributed at 8:30 am.
Anyone living at a residence located within the Glenview Park District is considered to be a member of that household.
NOTE: Nonresident program fees are 25% higher than resident fees.
If you only select a first choice and it is full, your payment will be processed and you will be put on the waiting list for that section.
If you list a second choice option and your first choice is full, your payment will be processed and you will be placed into your second choice if there is an opening. If your second choice is also full, you will be placed on the waiting list of your first choice only.
Participants may only be added to a wait list section if they have not been accepted into another section of that same class. Once the participant has been accommodated into a section of the program, they may not maintain a waiting list spot on any other section for that same program.
Participants may be placed on a maximum of one waiting list section of any program.
To be added to a waiting list, a program registration form must be completed and the program fee paid in full. You may not be added to a waiting list by phone call or hand written note. The position on the waiting list is based upon when the registration form is processed by the District.
If after two meetings of the program, you have not been accommodated into the program, your payment will be refunded in full.
Transfers are allowed after lotteries and up to 24 hours after the first class meeting. This timetable provides the flexibility for a participant to try a class while helping the District assess changes in class availability before too many classes have occurred.
The Glenview Park District accepts cash, checks, Mastercard, Visa and Discover card. If paying by check the
checks should be made payable to Glenview Park District. A $20 processing fee is charged for returned checks.
Those registering by fax, mail, or drop-off will receive a confirmation letter through the mail listing all the programs for your family and whether you are enrolled or wait-listed. Online registrants will receive an e-mail confirmation as soon as they have been placed in a program. The confirmation notice does not guarantee enrollment if the class does not fill and is cancelled. In the event your class is cancelled, you will be notified.
The park district does not carry medical or accident insurance for program participants.
The Glenview Park District is a member of a risk management agency for insurance coverage that requires all adult participants over age 18 or parents/guardians of participants under 18 to sign a Release of All Claims and Assumption of Risk Waiver in order to be enrolled in a park district program. The park district does not carry medical or accident insurance for program participants.
By registering for any Glenview Park District Program, you agree to allow use of any photos or video taken at Glenview Park District programs, events, or facilities to illustrate and publicize these programs, facilities, and events.
Register early for programs! Some classes fill up very quickly. If you wait too long to register, it might be too late. Unfortunately, in some circumstances, we have no choice but to cancel a class if the minimum number of participants have not enrolled prior to start date.
Refunds will be granted up to 24 hours after the first class meeting. A 10% cancellation charge of the total fee per program will be assessed, minimum amount assessed $5 and a maximum amount of $15 per program. After this time, no refunds will be granted except for medical purposes or change in residence (proof required) and there will be a pro-rated refund based upon number of classes attended.
These regulations apply to recreation and instructional programs throughout the park district. They do not apply to Summer Camp and Clinic Programs, daily admissions, memberships, rentals, trips, specialized services, continuing skill programs or programs such as Little Learners Preschool or Glenview Titan Aquatic Club. These services have specific policies as part of the information provided to the participant at the point of registration.
The Glenview Park District in partnership with the Glenview State Bank and Glenview Youth Services, makes recreation leisureships available throughout the year to those families who find it difficult or otherwise impossible to register their children for park district programs due to financial constraints. Types of leisureships offered include:
- which allow participants to spread the payment of a program fee over a period of time
- which allow participants to pay a reduced fee for a program and
- which cover the total fee for a program.
The type of leisureships granted will be determined on an individual basis according to need. To receive more information or apply for a recreation leisureship, call Bob Quill, Superintendent of Leisure Services for the park district at (224) 521-2246 or Alison Guenther of Glenview Youth Services at (847) 724-2620.
Leisureship applications, park district brochures and program registration forms are available at Park Center, 2400 Chestnut Ave., the park district administrative office at 1930 Prairie St. or Glenview Youth Services, 3100 W. Lake Ave. You may also download a printed copy of the registration form by clicking here. Applications for leisureships must be returned, along with a completed registration form, to the Glenview Youth Services office at 3100 West Lake Ave.
