and Adults.

All figure skating class registrations must be brought in, mailed or faxed directly to the Ice Center for processing. Registrations will be accepted until the third class meets. New skaters may ask to receive a class brochure by mail or fax or can download them directly from this website.

In addition to the full and mini sessions of classes, two "Beginners Only" sessions are offered - one in September and one during Winter Carnival. These two or three-day mini classes are offered for beginners only (hence the name) aged 3-12 years. The registration fee includes rental skates. To download the flyer for the next session of Beginner's Only, click here.

There will be no Practice Ice available in Summer 2008 as the Ice Center will be closed for mechanical renovations

Practice Ice Fees:
15 minutes: $3.00
30 minutes: $4.50
45 minutes: $6.50
60 minutes: $8.50

Private Lessons
All of the figure skating professionals at Glenview Ice Center teach private lessons. Skaters may approach the Pro of their choice directly or fill out a "Private Lesson Request Form" and submit it to the Figure Skating Director to be matched with a Pro. Every Pro sets his/her own lesson fee ($20-$30 per half-hour) and schedules his/her own lessons. Private lessons may be given during public sessions, freestyle or moves ice or on private ice reserved by the Pro. Skaters must always pay a fee for the ice time (at the rink office) before the lesson begins.

Synchronized Skating Teams
Synchronized Skating is a team of skaters forming patterns while skating in unison in straight lines, circles or other formations, all choreographed to music. It is the fastest growing sport in Figure Skating and may become an Olympic sport. Teams compete in different levels based on the ages and skating levels of the team members and on the number of skaters on the team. Currently, the Glenview Ice Center fields three Synchro Teams: the Mini Blades, a team of 20-25 skaters between the ages of 4 and 10 who compete at ISI-endorsed competitions in a category called "Youth Formation" The Stellar Blades, a team of 20-25 skaters between the ages of 10 & 15 who compete in the "youth skating" category and the Junior Blades, a team of 20-26 skaters who are age 8 and up, who are in Freestyle 2 or higher and who compete in a category called "Senior Youth Skating". Skaters must tryout in the Spring to participate on a team. Teams practice once or twice a week and compete regularly throughout the season.

The success of Glenview's Synchro teams is due in large part to the efforts of the team families who make up the Glenview Blades Organization. Blades families volunteer at various functions throughout the year. The bulk of their volunteer efforts are geared towards fundraising to help defray team costs of items such as costumes, tights, t-shirts, team jackets, team dinners, competition entry fees and more.
