Here’s what one of our recent clients had to say about their wedding at The Redfield Estate: “You’ll not be surprised to learn (since I’m sure you’ve heard this many times before) that our guests were completely charmed by what I’d call the ‘comfortable elegance’ of the house and grounds. Truly, this was the perfect setting for our wedding ceremony and reception. We are grateful to you and your staff [and to the Glenview Park District!] for your stewardship of this lovely place, ensuring that it will continue to be available to others for many years to come. Thanks again for helping us make our wedding so beautiful an event for us, our families, and our friends.”

A Brief History of the Redfield Estate
Built in 1929, The Redfield Estate was the home of Kennicott descendents who settled The Grove in the 1830s. Acclaimed authors Louise Redfield Peattie (American Acres) and Donald Culross Peattie (A Prairie Grove) were the first couple to live in the home. George G. Elmslie, a follower of the Louis Sullivan School of Chicago Architecture, designed the house. The home’s fabulous architectural style was inspired by the natural areas of The Grove. A stained glass circle on the large leaded glass window in the main room is placed in such a way that the moon appears encircled here on the vernal equinox in the spring and autumnal equinox in the fall. Care of Injured Wildlife
The Grove frequently receives calls from concerned people who have found injured wildlife and want to help. While The Grove is not authorized to care for such animals, there are other resources available.
