Aquatics – Indoor/Outdoor Pools

Flick Aquatic Center Is Now Open for the 2020 Season

As part of the Restore Illinois Plan, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has released its Phase 4 swimming facility guidelines for aquatic centers to allow public swimming and groups larger than 10.

As we work to open public swim as quickly as we can safely do so, please understand this is our first week back, and our time blocks and policies will change and evolve through this process. Lounge chairs are available for rent and cleaned between each use.

Slides and play areas will be open during public swim, but visitors should maintain proper physical distancing when using these areas. Staff will be cleaning and sanitizing all high-touch surfaces every hour.

Flick Aquatic Center will be the Only Facility Open for Summer 2020

Due to current limitations to our ability to hire and train lifeguards, the cost of operations, and anticipated safety changes, we will only be opening Flick Aquatic Center this summer. We chose this location because:

  • It has the most overall square footage and will be able to accommodate the most visitors while still meeting physical distancing requirements
  • It has internal sections that allow staff to manage the number of visitors in a given space
  • It has an eight-lane 25-yard lap pool with a handicapped chair, which can be used for lap swimming, walking and, if guidelines allow, group fitness programming
  • It has a larger dedicated parking lot to accommodate patrons

Roosevelt Aquatic Center will remain closed for the season. Splash Landings Indoor Aquatic Center will open this fall.

Aquatics Memberships Provide More Value

We understand that this summer will provide a limited pool experience to everyone due to COVID-19. To ensure we provide you with the maximum value of your aquatic memberships:

  • Start dates will be deferred to Flick Aquatic Center opening day for previously purchased memberships.
  • We will be extending your membership by three months, which will provide you full access to all three aquatic centers during the 2021 summer at no additional cost!
  • Members with 4-star or 5-star passes will also have access to Splash Landings Indoor Aquatic Center this fall and winter.
