Outdoor Pool Weather Policy

  • The facility will close if any other situation arises that would jeopardize the public health or safety of patrons in attendance.
  • If the facility is required to close, pool staff will update the Rainout Line. Get the latest closure information by calling 847-724-3337.
  • Opening and closing of the facility is subject to prevailing weather conditions, including cold weather, electrical storms, strong winds and heavy rains.
  • If lightning and/or thunder is in the area and/or the Strike Guard Lightning Detection System issues a warning, the pool deck will be cleared and will not reopen until an all clear siren (3 short blasts) is heard.
  • Reservations will be refunded if Strike Guard Lightning Detection System goes off within the first 30 minutes of a time block for those who paid the daily fee.
  • If inclement weather occurs 30 minutes or more into the scheduled time, no refund or credit will be offered.

How We’re Keeping You Safe

Our team is working hard on the plans to operate with physical distancing, group capacity limits and rigorous sanitizing protocols. We are readying the facility, training the staff as well as finalizing our new operational measures.  We continue to review guidance from Starguard Elite, PDRMA, CDC and IDPH and are implementing operational adjustments to ensure the safety of patrons and staff. Here are just a few of the changes you can expect in this phase of swimming:

  • Maximum of 100 visitors per pool area allowed for each “time block” available for reservation. IDPH guidelines allow up to 50% capacity for outdoor aquatic facilities. Normal capacity at Flick is 1,300 so 100 people is well below the 50% capacity. Flick Aquatic Center is very large and spread out, and we are confident all users can maintain physical distancing at these numbers. We will be monitoring activity onsite and determine capacity levels based on what is safe for visitors.
  • Lounge chairs can be rented for $3 at the pool. They will be sanitized between uses. Available for purchase at Admissions window. Credit Card ONLY please!
  • Lifejackets will be available at the pool and will be sanitized between uses.
  • Aquatic staff will be wearing face covering in the chair and while interacting with patrons.
  • High-touch surfaces and locker rooms will be sanitized every hour.
  • Between each “time block” of visitors, staff will sanitize all surfaces and equipment.
  • For aqua fitness or other group activities, there will be a limit of 50 people and those activities will be distanced 30 ft away from all other user groups, per IDPH guidelines.
  • Face coverings/masks will not be required for patrons when they are swimming, but will be expected when entering the facility and on deck.
  • Locker rooms will be open for changing, but lockers will be blocked off.
  • Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult age 16 or older.
