The Glenview Park District offers a nationally-recognized swim instruction curriculum developed by the Starfish Aquatics Institute. This includes a variety of group swim lessons for children ages 3 months and up. Benchmarks are established at each stage in the program to teach swimming and safety skills. Register your child for the program that corresponds with his or her age.

StarTots: 6 months – 2 years + adult
Starfish Swim School® for Preschoolers: 3-5 years
Starfish Swim School® for Youth: 6-12 years
Stroke School*: for students 6-12 years who have passed the Level 3 stage of Starfish Swim School Youth or equivalent.

* New to the program and think your swimmer is ready for Stroke School? We recommend you register for Starfish Swim School for youth and include a note that you think they are prepared for stroke. Staff will evaluate and place at an appropriate level on the first day of class.

Looking for more individualized instruction? Private swim lessons provide one-on-one attention tailored to each swimmer’s goals, ability and comfort level.

Whether you are learning to swim for the first time, building confidence in the water, refining strokes for swim team or getting back into swimming as an adult, our experienced instructors will customize each lesson to meet your needs.

All Glenview Park District swim instructors are certified through Starfish Aquatics Institute and participate in ongoing training. Many of our instructors also bring years of competitive swimming, teaching and coaching experience
