Summer Happenings

Glenview's Independence Day Celebration
Friday, July 4

11 am - Bike Parade - Children ages preschool to
9 years can step off the parade by bringing their decorated bike to the corner of Glenview Rd. and Church St. by 10:30 am. Sponsored by Cook County Commissioner Greg Goslin and the Abington of Glenview

11:30 am - Main Parade - The 43rd annual Independence Day Parade will start at the OLPH parking lot, go west on Glenview Road, turn south on Harlem to Central, then march west on Central to Johns Park. Sponsored by Glenview State Bank

7:30 pm - Twilight Show - Glenview Park Golf Club, 800 Shermer Road. The show begins with a patriotic concert by the 100 piece North Shore Concert Band followed by a fireworks show synchronized to patriotic music. Sponsored by Glenview State Bank

Thorguard System Now Operating

The Glenview Park District’s Thor-Guard Lightning Prediction System has now been activated at locations throughout the district. The Thor-Guard system warns users of parks and golf courses when lightning danger is approaching. Thor-Guard units are installed at Community Park West, Glenview Park Golf Club, Glenview National 9 Golf Club, Flick and Roosevelt Pools and the Westbrook School baseball complex. Learn more...

Ice Center Construction Update


6-23-08--Work on Glenview Ice Center renovations to replace aging mechanical systems and improve energy efficiency is progressing well. New lighting in the main rink has been installed and insulation work in both rinks is well underway. The Ice Center will remain closed throughout the summer until completion of the project which is expected to be at the end of August.
