Indigenous Storytelling with Native American Indian Story Keeper Wamblee Loux

Join The Grove for an unforgettable experience that celebrates the wisdom, culture, and powerful oral traditions of Native American heritage as told by gifted storyteller Wamblee Loux.

Families and individuals are invited to stop by throughout the day to hear oral histories that have been preserved and passed down through generations. A brief pipe ceremony – a sacred ritual that connects the physical and spiritual worlds – will be held at noon.

Dress for the weather as this program will take place outside. You may bring seat cushions and/or portable chairs for your comfort. Please be respectful when arriving and departing. Sponsored by the Grove Heritage Association. Registration is not required.

The Glenview Park District continues to advance park improvements and planning goals defined in our Comprehensive Master Plan to maintain the high quality of park and recreation services for our community.

Parks master plans are essential to provide a road map for the Park District on future improvements to the parks. We would like your input on determining a plan to maintain and improve our parks!

Several parks have been identified for planning including Indian Ridge, Swenson, and Willow Parks. All three parks will be planned concurrently including staff design collaboration meetings, community input sessions, and Park Board review. The timeline and funding for these parks has not been determined yet and the Park District is just seeking input for the preliminary planning.

Join us for a day of family-friendly fun and environmental education! Explore ways to make a positive impact on our planet.

• Make recyclable newspaper seed pots and other crafts.
• Tour the Tyner Center and explore Fuller Air Station Prairie on a guided trail walk.
• Play in our augmented reality sandbox to see how topography shapes the environment.
• Bring your old fluorescent light bulbs and watch as they are quickly and safely recycled by our Bulb Eater lamp crushing system (10 am-1 pm).

The Grove Heritage Association (GHA) is inviting a few close friends over- are you on the list? All current, new, and renewed GHA members are invited for an exclusive evening to explore The Grove after hours. This special time will include campfire with refreshments, guided night hike, afterhours access to the Interpretive Center with animal encounters, and more!

Grove Literary Society

In the tradition of the original Grove Literary Society established by Robert Kennicott and his father Dr. John, The Grove Heritage Association hosts a new book club that focuses on books about the natural history to better understand where and how we live. Join park district staff and other community members and friends to go for a walk along the trails at The Grove. Walking has been linked to incredible physical and mental health benefits. Election Day

Park Center’s first floor mini gym will serve as a polling location for certain precincts on March 19. Parking is available in the front of the building; use the main middle entrance of the building. Join The Grove for a special presentation Gardening with Native Plants by Meredith Suangka, Grove Natural Resource Manager, as she discusses the benefits of native vegetation and explains how to select the right plants for different environmental conditions and turn landscaping into a haven for pollinators and other wildlife. • The 0-2 year old group will begin at 10:15 a.m. sharp
• The 3-5 year old and 5-9 year old groups will start at 10:30 a.m.

There will NOT be day of registration.
