The best view to the “world of learning” for your child starts with the Glenview Park District’s Park Center Preschool classes for three and four year olds. Our program is designed to give your child the tools and experiences he/she needs to assure a positive transition to kindergarten and beyond.

Preschool Tours and Open House

Learning through Play

Park Center Preschool programs align with the Illinois Early Learning Standards. The Pre-K’s also follow the “Handwriting without Tears” curriculum. At the same time, we use our “Learning Through Play” philosophy to fulfill a balanced and progressive curriculum. Park Center Preschool classes:

  • Encourage your child to explore, discover, problem-solve and build self-esteem
  • Utilize individual and group activities to develop social, emotional, language and cognitive skills
  • Feature developmentally appropriate, non-biased activities following weekly themes

School Year: 9/2/2014-5/15/2015. Appropriate entry age by 9/1/2014. Nonresident registration begins
March 3. Nonresident fees are 25% more than resident fees up to a maximum of $100.

Age: Turning 3 between 9/1/14 and 1/1/15
(The child needs to be in the process of toilet training or starting the process by the first day of class. to remain in the class, toilet training must be achieved by 1/1/15.)

Teacher/Child Ratio: 1:7

These children “step up” into a more structured environment. The 2′s curriculum is expanded upon in a more challenging way.

Our expanded curriculum highlights the social and emotional development of the child along with the physical and intellectual development of a 3 year old. The 3′s will follow specific goals and readiness skills preparing them for the Pre-K 4 program.

The 4′s curriculum has been developed to meet the specific skills needed in preparing a child for kindergarten. Our program is challenging and ever-expanding. It includes readiness in reading, literature, writing, math, science, art, music, listening/speaking, gross/fine motor skills, social and emotional readiness. The 4′s also follow the “Handwriting without Tears” curriculum.

2014-2015 Preschool Year

Priority Registration for 2015-16

To maintain an ongoing relationship with our current preschool families, Park Center Preschool will offer priority registration for residents ONLY for the 2015-2016 school year beginning in January 2015. Registration for currently enrolled non-residents will be at a later date.

The 2014-15 school year begins the week of September 2, 2014, ends the week of May 11, 2015 and follows the District 34 school calendar for non-attendance days. We strictly adhere to our entry age requirements for preschool classes. Nonresident fees are 25% higher up to a maximum of $100 additional  than shown here. All Park Center Preschool classes are held at Park Center, 2400 Chestnut Avenue. To observe a class or arrange a brief tour by appointment only, please call (224) 521-2502.

Registration and Payment Information

Registration packets will be available at the front desk of Park Center beginning Jan. 15. Resident Registration begins Feb. 3. and packets will not be accepted until this date.

To Register

No Online Registration Permitted

  1. Fill out a separate registration form with required paperwork. Forms are located at Park Center Front Desk. Do not include other program registrations on this form.
  2. Submit a COPY of the child’s birth certificate. (Registration cannot be processed without a copy of the certificate). Failure to submit all paperwork will prevent enrollment. We do not “HOLD” registration packets in the meantime.
  3. PAYMENT OPTIONS: A $195 registration fee is collected at the time of registration and will be applied to your total program fee. It is non-refundable and parents acknowledge this by signing the registration form. A payment letter will be sent to you in early June 2014. At that time you will be asked to pay the tuition in one of two ways and forms will be supplied:
    • Payment in full (either by check or by deduction from checking account or credit/debit card)
    • Payment Plan. You may pay the tuition monthly by signing up for the plan. Monthly payments will only be accepted through a deduction to your checking account or credit/debit card. (A $4.75 processing charge for each electronic installment payment is included in the installment fees listed on this page.) Payment Plans begin on July 1, 2014 and continue through March 1, 2015.
  4. Withdrawing from Park Center Preschool. The Registration Fee of $195 is non-refundable. Withdrawal from the program starting July 1, 2014 through August 31, 2014 will result in an additional retention of 25% of the monthly tuition for the class. Withdrawal from September 1, 2014 through December 31, 2014 will result in an additional retention of 50% of the monthly tuition for the class. No refunds will be issued after January 1, 2015 except for medical reasons or moving. Documentation is required before refunds are approved.
  5. Submit all items listed in steps 1-3 to Park Center, 2400 Chestnut Ave. Packets will be stamped with date and time of delivery. Incomplete and missing forms, including birth certificates, will result in processing delays and will not be held to secure a spot in a class!
